The Town of Drayton Valley recognizes the fundamental rights of the public to influence the decisions that affect them and to participate in the development of their community.
Drayton Valley is also committed to safer communities as they contribute to an enhanced sense of wellbeing that often attracts businesses, immigration and residential development to the area.
The Town of Drayton Valley’s Animal Control Bylaw 2014/01/A, was enacted almost 10 years ago, on May 14, 2014.
Continuous review of municipal bylaws is integral for good governance and to meet the needs of the community. As such, we are beginning the process to review our bylaws as they pertain to domesticated animals within the Town of Drayton Valley.
Please note, this survey and subsequent bylaw only affects the Town of Drayton Valley and does not encompass other municipalities.
On average, the Town of Drayton Valley spends approximately $45,000 per year on Animal Control functions. This includes items such as equipment to capture animals, veterinarian bills, providing housing/feeding/care for strays, office supplies, utilities for the facility, etc.. This does not include salaries/benefits for officers, vehicle costs, etc. which would increase the yearly total.
