Project Overview
Proposal
As part of the Municipal Development Plan (MDP) Project underway to plan the future growth and development priorities of Drayton Valley over the next 20-25 years, Administration is reviewing the role the Downtown serves Drayton Valley overall, and what revitalization priorities may be needed for the area.
The Downtown Revitalization project will be broken into two phases.
- Phase I: Identifying the boundaries of the Downtown, how it is used, what is liked about the area, and what improvements are needed. This phase is driven by public feedback and engagement and establishes a high level policy outline and general direction for Downtown Revitalization.
- Phase II: Refining the high level policy into a more detailed revitalization strategy and outlined improvement(s) plan. This phase is driven by public feedback, targeted stakeholder engagement, and high-level policy established both in Phase I and the new Municipal Development Plan (MDP).
Public Feedback
As part of Phase I, a survey was circulated to the general public January 31 2023 - February 28 2023, intended to get a sense of where Downtown is, what is liked currently about Downtown, and what improvements should occur. Results of the survey are provided in the What We Heard Report under Related Documents.
Feedback received through the survey will be used to help establish high-level policy as part of the larger Municipal Development Plan (MDP) Project, and provide a general roadmap for more detailed planning and engagement during Phase II of the Downtown Revitalization Project.
